  • Wanted to do some ROM cooking for the Omnia today. But looks as if that’ll have to wait since I’ve got some Joomla work for a client … #
  • When it comes to CSS issues, FireBug is your friend in such a big way – now I keep looking for similar solutions under other browsers 🙂 #
  • OK, client work completed. Now perhaps some time to play with cooking a new Omnia ROM … I really want a clean ROM with lots of free space #
  • OK, the ROM has been customized. Now to see how to add new applications to be installed as default with the ROM … #
  • OK, my first custom ROM cooked with registrty customizations, custom apps, the works 🙂 Now to see if it actually works by flashing it … #
  • Woo hoo! Phone booted up and my customizations appear to have taken place. Now of course, I have to re-install some of my other apps … #
  • Ming in the “Flash Gordon” TV series is such a one-trick pony and his daughter Aura is so bipolar – first she’s for him, then against etc. #
  • Finally finished “Flash Gordon”, which was really beginning to drag, with Ming’s rages and posturing, and now we’re back to “Dexter” … #

  • Kind of a grey day here. Might just be that the sun hasn’t dawned yet but that’s how the day feels … #
  • It’s a slow day. Didn’t get much done except for tinkering around with Delphi Prism and VS.NET … Trying to figure the future of #Birdie .. #

  • This DerrekGehll character (and all it’s variants) have followed me now about 6-8 times. And each time it’s the same spam, different account #
  • I’ve started blocking the annoying spammer accounts now. I don’t think it does any good overall but it somehow makes me feel better 😀 #
  • Birdie 0.95 with the ability to send long tweets (which are automatically split into several tweets) is now out: http://is.gd/8Uee #
  • Woke up way too early … already feeling tired 🙂 #
  • Now watching “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2”. We enjoyed the first one but don’t know how this one’ll go … #
  • “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2” was OK except for Alexis Bledel playing the same old character over and over and over again … #

  • If you have 50 people you’re following, 1 follower and 1 update, I might not follow you back – especially if you’ve a get-rich-quick scheme #
  • What???? Norton has shut down anti-virus because my definitions are outdated by 9 hours. They expect computers to be always on? #
  • VMWare’s Unity is beautiful once you actually get it working with a Linux host 🙂 All your Linux apps run on your Windows desktop … #
  • Ugh … hate beta APIs where they either don’t update the documentation or do not document everything correctly 🙁 #
  • Watching “Dexter”. The only thing I hate about the show is Deb. She’s supposed to be tough but she keeps acting all so girly and vulnerable. #
  • I’m curious to see how many of the lapses in the plot of “Dexter” were due to the writers of the TV show. I’m betting all of them … #
  • Finished watching the entire first season of “Dexter” in a matter of days 🙂 I’m almost reluctant to see the 2nd season ‘cos then its over #
  • Yes, I know there’s a 3rd season of “Dexter” and two more to come after that but we’ve only got season 1 and 2 on DVD at the moment 🙂 #
  • Dang, Delphi 2009 already has two update packs! Not a good sign in some cases 🙂 #

  • Years ago, I used to really love Evolution as a Linux window manager. Now I can’t figure out for the life of me why I liked it so much 🙂 #
  • Apparently, Tamil Nadu wants to get Kachchativu, a barren island, back from Sri Lanka. An island that the Indian government ceded to Sri >> #
  • << Lanka back in 1974. The timing seems a little suspicious to me … #
  • Time to work on a custom WordPress plugin for a client. Hopefully, I can get this sorted out by lunch … #
  • OK, plugin coding done for the time being. Time for lunch and perhaps some “Dexter” 🙂 #

  • Legit Twitter accounts seem to have been compromised by the phishing scam because I’m getting phishing DMs from accounts that look legit … #
  • Might be time to do another firmware update on my phone but this time, go for a custom ROM which frees up lots of RAM … #
  • Lots of installs and upgrades today. Trying to install Ubuntu 8.10 since I got tired of upgrading from 7.04; Delphi 2009; and phone firmware #
  • Aaargh! The Ubuntu 8.10 image which took me a day to download at terrible speeds is damaged. Have to re-download now … Aaargh x 2 #
  • OK, the Ubuntu ISO download problem might have been solved 🙂 Downloaded Shareaza, gave it the Ubuntu torrent but stopped immediately, >> #
  • << then copied over the old damaged file over the Shareaza partial download and told it to re-verify. It says 99.91% is fine and is now >> #
  • << downloading the missing bits. Hopefully, this’ll work and I’ll have a working image … #
  • Yes!!! Shareaza for teh win! It only downloaded less than 1MB of the invalid ISO and now Ubuntu 8.10 installs fine 🙂 #
  • OK, Delphi 2009 installed. Have to wait for Delphi Prism to finish downloading so that I can test it out … so far, so good 🙂 #
  • Finished Jim C. Hines’ “Spell of the Sparrow” – enjoyable short story. Wish there were more James and Alycia short stories… Are there? #
  • “Tropic Thunder” was really annoying and boring at the beginning but the ending was shrieking hilarious 🙂 And Tom Cruise in the movie? Wha? #
  • “Merlin and the War of the Dragons” had so many parallels to the new “Star Wars” trilogy that it isn’t even funny 🙂 In fact, it made me >> #
  • << realize that the Arthurian legend also has parllels to the original “Star Wars” trilogy … #

  • Bought Jim C. Hines’ “Blade of the Bunny” and “Spell of the Sparrow” as e-books. They sound very interesting … #
  • Watching “The Getaway” with Steve McQueen, directed by Sam Peckinpah but man is it slow … guess movies have evolved a lot 🙂 #
  • Watching “Swing Vote” now and so far, it’s looking pretty good 😉 #

  • There was a loud noise/explosion around 1am last night. Wonder what blew up? Nothing on the news so far …. #
  • Still trying to get Ubuntu upgraded. Very slow servers and various other errors making this a really, really prolonged task … #
  • Finally went from Feisty Fawn to Gutsy Gibbon for Ubuntu 🙂 Now to do the next few upgrades … But first a few changes again … #
  • I don’t really like how Ubuntu does upgrades though. Removed a few apps to save on download for updates but it re-installed the removed apps #
  • Well, the upgrade to Hardy Heron at least launched without issues, unlike with Gutsy Gibon. But let’s see how it goes … #
  • Apparently there’s been another bomb blast in Fort about half an hour ago … #

  • Back to XP. Windows 7 has lots of nifty new features but overall it’s just not ready as an OS – doesn’t play nice with enough apps #
  • Personally, I think UAC causes most of these issues. And till 90% of the apps out there are written for Vista or Windows 7, it won’t work #
  • Back to trying to get Linux to work properly undr VMWare so that I can get stuff done 🙂 No more Windows 7 at least for a while … #
  • Linux Mint wouldn’t play well with VMWare some of the time and I wasn’t in the mood to troubleshoot. Testing to see if Ubuntu does better #
  • Why is it that the folks at Norton still have not resolved the issue where they report certain installers as viruses? #
  • Gaaaah! Network speeds seem to fluctuate between slow and super-slow today! Can’t get Ubuntu upgraded at all … #
  • Today’s word of the day from wordsmith.org is: shilly-shally – Hesitantly; irresolutely. Similar to dily-dally. #
  • Watching “High Scholl Musical” – one of our nieces is a big fan of the movie series 😀 I feel as if I already know Troy, Gabriela etc. 🙂 #

  • Stayed awake later than usual to finish watching “Santosh Subramaniyam” – it was that good 🙂 Paying for the late night now though … #
  • Need to clear out data from a partition so that I can try Windows 7 on dual-boot. Works fine on VMWare but that doesn’t tell the full story #
  • Mmm …. “mung ata” (mung beans) for breakfast on the start of a new year! That’s the way to go 🙂 (And no, I’m not being sarcastic …) #
  • Should I keep “Spore” or get rid of it? It turned out to be the most over-hyped game ever or I’ve just grown out of that sort of game …. #
  • Windows 7: under 10 minutes for file extraction and first reboot, 17 minutes to second reboot and logged in by 20 minutes. Pretty good 🙂 #
  • Oh yeah, Windows 7 discovered and connected to my Wi-Fi as soon as it started up – no driver issues. I don’t think Vista did that … #
  • OK, #Birdie installed and working fine under Windows 7. Not sure how much of my regular apps I’ll install under W7 though … #
  • Windows 7 has a built-in wallpaper manager, was that there in Vista? I don’t think I ever used it in Vista … #
  • OK, first item I dislike about Windows 7 (besides the new taskbar, which is horrible) is the default system tray implementation … #
  • Hmm … NIS 2009 installs fine under Windows 7 – I could have sworn that some people reported problesm with W7 and Norton … #
  • Ah, there’s a built-in Windows 7 troubleshooter which will check for multiple anti-virus running, more than one user logged-in etc. Good 🙂 #
  • Dang, my Chrome user data comes to around 537MB! What the heck is Chrome storing on my hard drive? #
  • Ugh, Chrome windows have a weird line through the left, bottom and right borders under Windows 7. Makes me want to go back to XP 😀 #
  • I like how the gadgets are implemented this time around in Windows 7. More OS X like but it doesn’t take up screen-real estate … #
  • Hmm … the vaunted troubleshooter does nothing for me with regards to device driver issues though it did dial down my screen brightness 🙂 #
  • “Burn After Reading” is such a pointless, annoying movie where I wanted all the characters to just die, die, die! 😀 #
