  • Lightning hit close to our house and took out electronics. The router did not survive 🙁 On backup router at the moment … fun 😀 #
  • Have to add groups support to #Birdie (http://is.gd/8Uee) soon (and damn this dyslexia which makes me type it as Bridie :p Maybe today … #
  • OK, some annoying (and persistent) bugs fixed in the code. I hate those because you keep fixing and fixing and it doesn’t work :p #
  • The new “Flash Gordon” – so stupid. They changed the story and the science … it just sucks … bad … mega bad 😀 #
  • OK, groups functionality added to #Birdie and it appears to work fine. Guess Birdie 0.94 is coming out sooner rather than later 🙂 #

  • My KDE became unusable under VMWare after I did some graphical setting changes 🙁 Good thing is that I was able to get it back up fast. #
  • Lots of stuff to do all at once. A client had a weird Joomla error which turned out to be caused by a module. Site was down till I found it. #
  • Now finally some time to relax since the site is back up and I’m running a backup on the client site. Off to pray and then perhaps some TV. #
  • OK, last episode of “Supernatural” season 3. Time to finish watching it … #
  • I like the new Thunderbird 3 beta 1. Somehow the mail composition window looks cleaner and crisper than Thunderbird 2. No idea why though 🙂 #

  • Dumped a bunch of apps off my Omnia trying to isolate an issue where things become extremely slow but the OS is not frozen. #
  • Fixed an annoying bug in #Birdie (http://is.gd/8Uee) that was preventing the multi-user functionality working correctly. No new build yet. #
  • Mouse support for Linux Mint under VMWare is rather erratic. Sometimes clicks don’t register, sometimes the VM doesn’t gain focus – annoying #
  • I really like the look of KDE 4.x – it gives Linux that distinctive and individualistic look that it has been missing, IMO of course. #
  • Really having fun with Linux this time around. In fact, I’d probably switch if I didn’t have so much time invested in Windows apps and dev #

  • We’re back in Colombo after 4-5 days. Time to get going on all the stuff that I couldn’t attend to while out of town 🙂 #
  • Yeah, 80’s music rocks! 😀 #
  • Directory Opus (http://is.gd/bhzn) is still the best Explorer replacement out there 🙂 Just upgraded to 9.x after being a long-time 8.x usr #
  • Downloading Linux Mint 6.0 RC. Let’s see how Linux works after giving it a rest for a few years 🙂 #
  • wkTask looks like a good replacement for several other Windows Mobile apps that I use including Batti and SPB Pocket Plus -http://is.gd/bhMY #
  • Load on server climbed through the roof. Killed Apache and mySQL and restarted and everything’s fine. Wonder what went on? #
  • Installing Linux Mint 6 RC on VMWare at the moment. So far it looks rather minimalistic but the graphics certainly has improved. #

  • Lots of little things to sort out today. But we also have to get back to Colombo and that means a three hour journey. Fun, fun 😀 #
  • And the ADSL download isssues are back. All downloads time-out after downloading about 2MB … ugh 🙁 #
  • Have to work on another variation of the WordPress drop-in page for Twitter. I like that project – it’s fun 🙂 #
  • OK, just upgraded my site to the WordPress 2.7 final release. Not that there are that many changes (at first glance) but I feel better 🙂 #
  • http://pmsbuddy.com – danger Will Robinson, danger! #
  • I’m wondering if it’s time to give Gumbo a whirl and see what it will add to Birdie in terms of UI changes/enhancements … #
  • Completed coding on the alternate WordPress drop-in page to display tweets. Seems to work fine but only for PHP5. #

  • OK, time to get going on that web scraping project for my client again. I’m almost done but need to do some data entry and final testing. #
  • Creation of a CSV file with the scraped data works fine. But the file location needst to be changed … #
  • Ugh … testing this script test is taking the longest time. Guess I should have run it off my server instead of locally 🙂 #
  • Over two hours and 1500+ files downloaded. The script is still running. I’m beginning to wonder if there’s a never-ending-loop somewhere 😀 #
  • Now to work on a drop-in add-on for WordPress that will display the status of certain Twitter users … #
  • OK, the Twitter drop-in solution for WordPress which allows you to get the status of people you’re not following is complete. Piece of cake. #
  • ADSL download issues seem to be not as bad as yesterday. Wonder what was wrong? Well, hopefully we’ll be back in Colombo tomorrow. #

  • Today’s eid (or festival) day here. Won’t be on the computer as much as on most days but still gotta do my early morning e-mail check 🙂 #
  • ADSL in Kurunegala just plain sucks 🙁 Can’t really download or upload anything because it never completes. I need to get to Colombo. #

  • Up early since I’m fasting today. Sometimes it’s nice to be up while the whole world appears to be sleeping. The silence is wonderful 🙂 #
  • Making good progress on this web parser project for a client. I love it when code comes together right the very first time 🙂 #

  • We’re in Kurunegala. Left around 5am from Colombo, took a detour to Kegalle and then arrived here about an hour ago #
  • Apparently, according to one of my blog spammers, s/he “Got a pleasure” with me. I don’t even want to think what that means 😀 #
  • NDTV: Anger into Action – I really admire how much participation Indians have in discussing what’s happened and how to deal with it. #

Tweets for 2008-12-06

  • It’s Saturday over here. Not that that makes a difference. Every day’s a working day and everyday’s a holiday for me 🙂 #
  • Finally got my AIR app to set Facebook status but the process seems too complicated to integrate into Birdie 🙁 #
  • More Birdie (http://is.gd/8Uee) updates – retweet button and user information update handling. No public build for a while though … #
  • Woo hoo! Filtering support in #Birdie works great! Of course, adding filters still seems to have some bugs but that’s next 🙂 #
  • Aaaand it took like only five minutes to fix the adding filters issues in #Birdie. Now filtering works perfectly – on to groups! #
