  • "Velaikkaran" (வேலைக்காரன்) – https://t.co/f5lNWGavhT was interesting, educational, and fun to watch in many ways. But the fact that somebody who plans things out so meticulously would have such a huge blind spot ruined the final bit of the movie. On @PrimeVideo 03:39:59
  • Maybe it was all the crime movies that I've been watching recently, but despite the low IMDB rating, I really enjoyed "Mr. Local" (Mr. லோக்கல்) – https://t.co/QHOMiPHTlR I enjoyed the story and the jokes. There were a couple of painful-to-watch scenes, but generally enjoyable 🙂 21:37:45

  • "Nizhal" (നിഴൽ) – https://t.co/tw6Elpq11Z was brilliant. Keeps you on the edge of the seat wondering what is happening and what will happen next 🙂 The ending did feel a little bit anti-climactic after all that but still well worth watching! It's on @PrimeVideo 02:35:21
  • At first, I thought "The Priest" (ദ പ്രീസ്റ്റ്) – https://t.co/nBVtJOLKlf was "Father Brown" meets "The Sixth Sense" meets "The Omen" and while some of that holds true, it is its own movie with more twists than a snake playing twister 😛 Well worth watching. Is on @PrimeVideo 22:52:22

  • Time-loop plots seem to be pretty popular at the moment for Tamil movies. Watched "Jango" (ஜாங்கோ) – https://t.co/XhprAN2EPW about a week ago and "Maanaadu" (மாநாடு) – https://t.co/I8BdaGKQiU today.

The latter had the better story – less logic holes, but both interesting. 05:07:16

  • The new "Around the World in 80 Days" – https://t.co/ArSi7Crl0Z is an abomination. They messed with the original story to "spice" it up and then had so much logic issues (French soldiers like bloodhounds who go straight for their query for one) that I don't really like it. 06:23:58
  • "Dhamaka" (धमाका) – https://t.co/pnyu8fkg2S is a brilliant indictment of our news culture and our present society. I spent the early parts of the movie yelling at the main character because how selfish he was but by the end, it was evident that all of humanity was at fault … 22:28:40
  • I find "Decoupled" – https://t.co/kyhLyJxrFR hilariously funny, but my wife, not so much 😛 I've only watched a couple of Indian comedies (the other being "Time Enna Boss" – https://t.co/D7yinS3mGL) but I like them!

I hope we get more of these off-beat shows from India … 23:20:03

  • Speaking of off-beat, "Aranyak" – https://t.co/88amDY6wuM and "The Last Hour" – https://t.co/q7YmObM1S1 are two brilliant crime shows on @netflix and @PrimeVideo respectively. They kind of remind me of each other in some ways, but both are great in different ways. Bingeable! 23:23:12

  • “Atrangi Re” (अतरंगी रे) – https://t.co/cwalgefzLG is interesting, crazy, and totally likeable if you turn your brain off 😛

If you think about logic, human behaviour, science, psychiatry, logistics, or a few other things while watching, you probably won’t like the movie. 02:39:18

  • "Last Train to Christmas" – https://t.co/h7mfQJRMpF looks like an update to "A Christmas Carol" for the modern times, but not quite sure it works totally.

I sort of liked the time-travel aspects but the overall story mostly left me cold … and it wasn't 'cos of December 😝 05:14:15

  • Started watching "Laabam" (லாபம்) – https://t.co/Q28K9c8Ezv but could get through only about half the movie before I had to stop. Good subject matter but too heavy-handed a treatment and almost a caricature in portraying situations – no balance or realism to things. Gets boring. 19:31:02
  • I like Duluer Salman – you can never know what kind of movie he'll do next since he appears to hate being typecast. "Kurup" (കുറുപ്പ് ) – https://t.co/mP9aEYDUle was interesting – a bit ghoulish in a particular instance but the rest was great. Like the reveal at the end … 23:31:58

  • Watched “Minnal Murali” (മിന്നൽ മുരളി) – https://t.co/ka7uqj3hyX yesterday. A bit of a slow starter, but ends up in a blazing (literally 😛) climax.

The slow start might put some off but if you persevere, it pays off. But I have a soft-spot for Malayalam movies – YMMV 🙂 17:38:16

  • My (or rather, our since most of it was watched together) movie/TV watching stats for 2021 vs. 2020.

Looks as if we managed to watch a bit more this year than last and we’ve still got a few days to go in the year 😛 https://t.co/qaNxXyZPui 17:50:07

  • "Maha Samudram" (మహా సముద్రం) – https://t.co/R6TF0PRJAs had an interesting opening and at least a watchable middle but the last 45 minutes is rather predictable and boring.

Best part of the movie were Saranya and Jagapathi Babu, at least at the beginning 🙂 22:40:43

  • Anyone know if we can bring @AirBnB to task/sue for disregarding violations of city/provincial COVID bylaws and laws regarding short term rentals by host & guests in Canada?

    Please re-share for reach!

    https://t.co/pQpA4KPgps 21:09:46

  • “Enemy” (எனிமி) – https://t.co/b0zeztHhd3 started out looking like an interesting concept, but then devolved into the usual stuff lacking in much logic 😛

The most interesting part was shooting in Dubai and pretending it was Singapore… 22:04:03

  • Watched "In Charles Dickens' Footsteps with Gyles Brandreth" yesterday. Absolutely loved the narration by @GylesB1 but have to confess that I couldn't help but wish for some anecdotes by him 😝

[Not to say that I think you lived during Dickens' times @GylesB1 …] 1/2 18:53:13

  • We've had 4 incidents (3 noise + 1 other) with @Airbnb rentals the last couple of weeks. @Airbnb says they care about the community, but their actions don't seem to reflect this.

  • We watched “Bhoomi” (பூமி) – https://t.co/IDCcO9p2MA – a few days ago. Horrible movie with so many logic holes that you could probably fit Mars in there 😛

So went back and watched “Swades” (स्वदेस) – https://t.co/OD3H3m1obr – since it’s the same theme. So, so much better! 1/2 16:54:49

  • “Swades” still stands the test of time even after 17 years. Plus, it hit home pretty close in terms of what people are going through in Sri Lanka …

Wish there was a silver-bullet solution for Sri Lanka like in the movie, but alas, not so simple in real-life 🙁 2/2 16:54:52
